At Washington Court House City Schools, we are proud to have been recognized as a Purple Star School since 2018, signifying our commitment to supporting the unique needs of military-connected families. We understand the challenges and opportunities that come with military life and are dedicated to providing resources and support to help students and their families succeed.
Our community was founded by Revolutionary War veterans, and Blue Lions have proudly served in every major conflict since the Civil War. Since September 11, 2001, more than 60,000 Ohioans, including 18,000 Ohio National Guard members, have actively served their nation away from home in the global war on terrorism. We take great pride in our alumni who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces and are dedicated to honoring their service by preserving their stories and maintaining a strong connection between past and present Blue Lions.
Military Family Resources
We have compiled a variety of resources to assist military families in navigating educational transitions, accessing support services, and staying connected to our community:
- Military OneSource: Offers confidential, 24/7 support and information on various topics, including education, relocation, and financial assistance. Visit Military OneSource for more information.
Military Family Liaison
To ensure seamless support, we have designated a Military Family Liaison who serves as a primary point of contact for all military-connected families. Our Military Family Liaison is here to:
- Assist with the school transition processes.
- Provide information about available resources and services.
- Act as a connection between military families and school staff.
- Help staff understand the unique factors and hardships military-connected students face.

Military Alumni Database and Mentorship Program
We are dedicated to honoring the service of our military-connected alumni and creating pathways for mentorship opportunities:
- Military Alumni Database: Our Research History class is developing a database to recognize and celebrate Washington High School graduates who have served in the armed forces. If you are an aluma/us who has served or is currently serving, we invite you to share your information by completing this form. Your story helps us preserve our history and honor your service.
- Military Mentorship Program: We are launching a mentorship program to connect current military personnel and veterans with our students. These mentors provide guidance, share experiences, and inspire students interested in pursuing military service. For more information or to volunteer as a mentor, please contact Mr. Patton.
