Following the success of its inaugural event last year, Blue Lion students were thrilled with the return of Agriculture Day at Washington Court House City Schools. The second-annual event brought all k-12 students, farmers throughout the community, and local ag businesses and organizations together for a day of educational opportunities and agricultural fun.
The event offered an array of interactive experiences, including up-close encounters with farm animals, insightful conversations with local farmers and vendors, tractor exploration, and an inside look at honeybees and their hives.
Students also got to try their hand at making butter and using their creation on locally-grown and freshly-grilled corn on the cob.
Washington High School students played a pivotal role in the day’s events. Many student-leaders volunteered to help chaperone the students from Cherry Hill and Belle Aire, as well as the school’s new FFA chapter completed the majority of the set up and tear down.
Some of the district's 4-H participants also brought their animals for display and interaction, sharing their passion and knowledge with their classmates.
“We’re thankful to the farmers, businesses, and organizations that joined us to provide such an enriching day for our students,” said Dr. Tom Bailey, superintendent, “we look forward to continuing to work with our community partners as we grow our Agriculture Education opportunities at Washington Court House City Schools.”
