Welcome! I am Amy Knisley, 6th grade teacher at Washington Middle School. I am originally from Washington Court House, and a 1993 graduate of Washington Senior High School. I earned my bachelor's degree in education, with a concentration in Math, from Ohio University, and went on to get my Master's degree in Reading from Wilmington College. I was hired in 1998 to teach third grade at Eastside Elementary, and have been a Blue Lion since then.
This year marks my 17th year of teaching and my first year at the Middle School. I have previously taught Reading at every grade at the elementary level, so I am excited to begin this journey at the Middle School. I teach English/Language Arts to three sections of classes, and could not be enjoying the students and atmosphere more. The fantastic part of my job is introducing novels to students that they wouldn't necessarily choose for themselves, and the interest and excitement grow as they read it.
